Taligent (a portmanteau of Talent and Intelligent) was the name of an
object-oriented operating system and the company dedicated to
producing it. Initially started as a project within Apple Computer to
produce a replacement for the Mac OS, it was later spun off into a
joint venture with IBM in order to build a competing platform to
Microsoft Cairo and NeXTSTEP, as part of the AIM alliance. Taligent
Various areas of psychology and philosophy of perception are concerned
with the reasons why individuals often ignore issues that are of
relative or critical importance. Optimism bias tends to reduce issues
of subjectivity due to the tendency to have thought processes that are
overly positive- “”Overly positive assumptions can lead to
disastrous miscalculations — make us less likely to get health
to bet the farm on a bad investment.”
There are a number of human factors considerations when actually
substituting a stylus and tablet for a mouse. For example, it is much
harder to target or tap the same exact position twice with a stylus,
so “double-tap” operations with a stylus are harder to perform if
the system is expecting “double-click” input from a mouse.
Typically, the scope increase consists of either new products or new
features of already approved product designs, without corresponding
increases in resources, schedule, or budget. As a result, the project
team risks drifting away from its original purpose and scope into
unplanned additions. As the scope of a project grows, more tasks must
be completed within the budget and schedule originally designed for a
smaller set of tasks. Accordingly, scope creep can result in a project
team overrunning its original budget and schedule.
The “SIBO” family name stood for “SIxteen Bit Organiser” and
the improved version of the OPL language (with window and focus
controls) was at the root of what was later sold as the Symbian
operating system, which until 2010 was the most widely used OS in
smartphones, being at 2011 displaced by Google’s Android OS. This
change was more significant than appeared at the time. The consumer
level ‘high’ programming language still shares features with OPL,
but the developer toolkits were from then on focused on programmers
familiar with C and only the Symbian operating system remains.
